Paddle UK SUP Leader

  £220pp

The Paddle UK SUP Leader (Sheltered Water) course/award is a member of the Paddlesport Leader Award family and is open to all paddlers! The training course for this award supports your existing skills and enables you to lead fun, safe and enjoyable trips on paddleboards. This award is used by clubs, outdoor centres, single providers, and organisations to support their activity delivery on SUPs.

What does a SUP Leader do?

  • Your award will support you to run safe and enjoyable trips, based on your group’s needs and aspirations. You will lead journeys, on sheltered water.

  • You will balance the challenge and support available to your clients, all the while using your Vision and Safety experience to optimise their experience.

  • As a Leader, you can work independently or be deployed by a club, centre or organisation to lead trips and journeys. The purpose of these trips may be wide ranging from educational experiences, social adventures or trying something new.

Prepare for the course

There are no formal Award requirements or prerequisites to train to become a SUP Paddlesport Leader. However, to get the best from your course you need to feel comfortable in or on your craft and be able to independently paddle on sheltered water. You  will also need to organise four or more mock students for your assessment.

Prerequisites to be assessed:

  • 1 day First Aid Certificate

  • Safeguarding training

Assessment

Over 1 or 2 days assessment, you will lead your participants on a planned journey and be assessed for your leading, personal, and rescue skills for SUP.
